The work is part of a research project exploring seaweed, materiality and sensory properties that I am working on together with Professor Cecilia Fredriksson, a colleague at Lund University, where we discuss seaweed as a future resource from a materiality perspective. Where parts of the project form a material library developed based on the aesthetic, functional, sensory and symbolic properties of seaweed. The project also includes the Seaweed + Ceramic + Textile project.

The work ‘Gold of the Sea‘ is an interpretation in which I have started from how the light relates to the vegetation of the seaweed under the water, how a depth is created through the interaction between the bright surface and the darker, deeper parts.

Technique: Transfer printing with dispersion inks.
